You love being able to understand and help others achieve an understanding of themselves. Our Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours) delivers an advanced level of psychological knowledge, research and writing skills.

This one-year degree provides you the fourth year of accredited study in psychology, perfect if you’ve already completed three years of accredited study and want to train to work as a registered psychologist in Australia.

This course includes submission of a thesis based on the student’s original research.

This course has been accredited by the Navitas Professional Institute (NPI) under its self-accrediting authority.

    Scholarships

    The following ACAP scholarships are offered to eligible students. Read about the different scholarship categories and review the application procedure below.

    Academic Excellence (Undergraduate) Scholarship

    There are two types of scholarships for academic excellence – one for undergraduate and one for postgraduate students. The undergraduate scholarship will cover the total course fees for one unit of study in the subsequent trimester.

    Criteria
    Students must be studying full-time (unless registered with AccessAbility) and be the top performing student, based on formal grades, in an eligible course.

    Frequency of award
    Each student can be awarded this scholarship a maximum of three times over the duration of their ACAP course.

    Academic Excellence (Postgraduate) Scholarship

    Continuing students of eligible courses may be awarded this scholarship which covers 10% fee relief for all units remaining in the enrolled course. Candidates are nominated by the relevant Course Coordinator and no application is required.

    Criteria
    Students who completed their most recent course and have successfully enrolled in the ACAP postgraduate studies of eligible courses can apply for this scholarship.

    Eligible courses

    • Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours)
    • Master of Professional Psychology
    • Master of Psychology (Clinical)
    • Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychology Practice
    • Master of Social Work (Qualifying)

    Frequency of award
    One student per trimester admitted into each Honours or Masters programs.

    Access Scholarship

    ACAP supports students from diverse backgrounds in their studies. The scholarship will cover 50% of the recipients’ ACAP course fees for a maximum of 1 unit per trimester. In addition, a $500 grant will be provided to support the purchase of materials required for study.

    Criteria
    The Access Scholarship is available to support students identifying as a member of a traditionally disadvantaged community. This scholarship applies to most ACAP courses*. Students must supply an application letter outlining reasons the reasons for the application. In addition, the following guidelines apply:

    • The selection will be made on the basis of the application and a telephone interview.
    • The scholarship committee will seek a reference from academic teachers who have taught the applicant in the preceding term (if already enrolled).
    • The scholarship is for course fees only. The successful scholarship student will need to pay any other administrative penalty fees that may arise.
    • The scholarship is non-transferable and remains available to be taken up for 6 months after the offer date.
    • ACAP reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship for any of the following reasons: poor performance, poor attendance, misconduct or for any other activity which ACAP considers to be unbecoming behaviour of an ACAP student. See Student Misconduct Policy.

    Frequency of award
    One Access Scholarship is available per trimester, per eligible course.
