Program Overview

Students who have already completed Year 12 (or equivalent) may start with the Stage 2 Diploma, which has the same course content and structure as year one of the corresponding Curtin University undergraduate degree. Upon completion of your Diploma, you will progress directly into the second year of your Curtin University Bachelor's degree program.


Stage2 - Diploma of Arts and Creative Industries - Communication, Design and Arts
The Diploma of Arts and Creative Industries leads into the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Communications, Bachelor of Creative Arts or Bachelor of Design. You will learn transferable skills in communication, creativity, critical thinking, digital knowledge, presentation, problem solving, research and teamwork that can be applied to a range of workplaces in the creative industry.

Major: History
By studying history, you will gain an understanding of how societies experienced the past and how this shapes the world we live in today.

By studying Australian and international history, you’ll learn about the forces that have influenced the modern world, including nationalism, democracy, conflict and war, and gender and sexuality.

In this course you’ll have the opportunity to study and apply various approaches to researching and writing history.

History graduates contribute to addressing a wide range of society’s most complex issues. Studying history develops your skills to identify and critically interpret evidence and enables you to explain the causes and consequences of political, environmental and social change. These skills are essential for a range of careers.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the discipline of history, and an ability to apply an historical perspective
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically, creatively and reflectively within the history discipline and across disciplinary boundaries

    Diploma Higher Achiever Scholarship:

    • Available for new international students
    • Applies to all Diploma Courses
    • Covers 15% of any study period based on attaining 65% CWA on the previous study period.
    • To retain eligibility for the Scholarship, students must maintain 65% CWA.

    Year 2 Bachelor Degree: Curtin University will be giving 12% to all students who achieved 65% CWA.


    MQP Progression Scholarship:

    • 25% Merit Scholarship for Year 1 of the Master Program with CWA
