If you don’t yet meet the entry requirements for the UC course you’re aiming for, UC College’s diplomas – also known as higher education diplomas – will provide you with an introduction to your chosen study area. They act as an alternative entry pathway for admission to UC undergraduate courses and prepare you for university study.
Diploma of Information Technology
The Diploma in Information Technology gains you entry into UC’s bachelor degrees in IT, software engineering or business informatics, and is the perfect place to start your IT journey.
You might dream of being a web designer, games programmer, business analyst, IT security expert or perhaps a project manager. Whatever the IT role, our Diploma in Information Technology will provide the foundation
Study a Diploma in Information Technology at UC and you will:
- Be supported to develop the skills needed for ongoing success in your studies, and
- Be broadly prepared for any field of information technology available today.
On successful completion of the Diploma of Information Technology, you’ll receive up to 24 credit points (one year) of advanced standing into the second year of the following Bachelor of Information Technology at the University of Canberra.
Bachelor of Information Technology
If you have a passion for information technology (IT) and are keen to learn the high-tech skills to establish a career comfortably navigating an increasingly digitised world, then the UC Bachelor of Information Technology is the perfect course for you.
This course is highly expansive course, covering both the technology and business sides of IT, and as part of your studies you’ll explore and learn relevant IT theories and principles that underpin the IT industry.
Areas of study include business and information systems, system analysis and modelling, system administration, security, networking and software development which will give you the perfect platform from which to move seamlessly into a wide range of career specialisations.
This course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and, upon graduation, you’ll possess the necessary knowledge, skills, qualifications and professional contacts to forge a stimulating IT career across a wide range of industries both here in Australia and around the world.
This course offers the chance to specialise in Cloud Computing and Internet of Things, Cybersecurity and System Administration, Data Science or Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
Work-integrated learning (WIL) is an integral component of the Bachelor of Information Technology journey as it gives students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and build professional relationships through real work, or work-like placements.
This, in turn, enhances each student’s confidence, employability and reinforces the university’s commitment to preparing professional and highly employable graduates with the right mix of skills, knowledge, and experience.
As part of this approach UC fosters close industry connections who offer preferential access to work placement positions and training opportunities with companies such as Dialog Information Technology, Pursuit Technology, CycleLifeHQ, Birdsnest, Australian Sports Commission, Agsafe, Kiah Consulting, ALLBIDS, ThoughtPatterns Consulting, ESKAPEE, Carers ACT, the Department of Defence’s Chief Information Officer Group, Emanate Technology, Getaboutable.com and Clearz Defence.
In your final year, you’ll also have the chance to complete a real-world industry capstone project while working in teams to produce and implement an IT system for a local business, government or community organisation.

2025 T1/S1 INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SOUTH ASIA
INDIA, PAKISTAN, BANGLADESH, NEPAL, SRI LANKA AND BHUTAN
UC College is commented to helping international students achieve their goals by offering scholarships to students commencing their studies in 2025.
For International student who is a citizen of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, the scholarship package includes:
WELCOME TO UCC SCHOLARSHIP
Accept your offer to commence studying UCC International Foundation Studies or Diploma programs in Trimester 1 or Semester 1 of 2025, you will be eligible for the Welcome to UCC scholarship.
- International Foundations Studies – 15% off the tuition fee
- Diploma Programs – 15% off the tuition fee
- Graduate Certificate in Academic Foundations (GCAF) - $2,000 off the tuition fee
ELICOS SCHOLARSHIP
- 15% scholarship on ELICOS weekly rate for international students when packaged with a UC Colleges and/or University of Canberra academic programs.
- Scholarship available for all intakes in 2025.
- Sponsored or diplomatic students are excluded.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Scholarship amounts are shown in Australian Dollars (AUD)
- Be a citizen of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
- To be eligible for the scholarship, application needs to be shown as ‘Accepted’ in the system on or before 1 December 2024.
- Welcome to UCC Scholarship will be applied as a credit to the applicant’s account in the second study period (trimester).
- Scholarship will be applied to international students applying for the course from onshore and offshore.
- Students must remain enrolled until Friday week 4 of class (after census date) to be eligible.
- Limited places available: scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
- Sponsored or diplomatic students are not eligible.
- Academic program is either a University of Canberra degree program, UCC International Foundation Studies, UCC Diploma, or UCC GCAF.
- Scholarships are subject to change or may be discontinued without prior notice.
