UVic Undergraduate Scholarships & Funding

Entrance Awards Continuing Study
UVic International Entrance Scholarship
Amount:
CAD$I O,OOO
Eligibility: high school students applying for first-year admission with competitive GPAs. Up to 200  academically outstanding students receive the award each year.
In-course scholarship
Continuing international students may receive awards for further years of study - available to undergraduate students in all faculties who meet scholarship-specific criteria. Some need no application; other awards require an application with supporting documentation.
International 1B scholarship
Amount: CAD$2,000 (can be combined with other scholarships)
Eligibility: Students completing an 1B program with a minimum 32 1B points will be considered.
International bursary funding
Awarded to students who experience a financial crisis the academic year You must explain why you should qualify.

Information on all admission scholarships

  • Only for students unconditionally or conditionally admitted to the first year of a bachelor's degree program.
  • All students are automatically considered for these scholarships.
  • Interim scores of final year of high school to be sent by March 15 to IJVIC admissions
  • Entrance scholarship are not renewable.
  • Eligibility: Students must be registered in total of 12 or more units of study admissions

 

UVic graduate scholarships & funding

Faulty of Graduate Studies awards Graduate Assistantships
1. UVic Fellowships
Amount: up to CAD $17,500 per year
Eligibility: 7.0/9.0 (or first class standing), based on the last two years of coursework.

3. Teaching Assistants (TAs)
Students are hired by their academic units to assist with teaching and grading courses. These are hourly paid positions.

2. UVic Graduate Awards
Amount: up to CAD$10,000 per year
Eligibility: 6.0/9.0 (second class standing), based on the last two years of coursework.
4. Research Assistants (RAs)
Students are hired by faculty to assist with research. Their salaries are funded by faculty research grants, and the specific job duties and salary are negotiated directly between the RA and the faculty member

  • Only for admitted full-time master's students. All successful applicants are automatically considered. Meeting the minimum
  • eligibility does not guarantee that a student will receive an award.
  • Academic units decide on specific funding details for their students Scholarships are renewable for the duration of the program, as long as a minimum GPA and full-time enrollment are maintained

 

Kaplan-funded scholarship


For undergraduate students
Kaplan may award non-renewable scholarships to students who don't receive a UVic Entrance Award:

  • Scholarship for first-year undergraduates admitted directly to a UVic degree program
  • Available for the Fall 2024 intake only
  • Worth a maximum of 10% of first-year tuition
  • Students must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.25 (or equivalent) to qualify
  • Kaplan scholarships cannot be combined with any other award/discount; if a student is later awarded a scholarship from UVic, it will replace the Kaplan award
