Environmental challenges in the 21st century are complex: we believe solutions will be found by bridging what divides us. Nipissing’s Graduate Program in Environmental Science/Studies offers students the chance to study contemporary environmental issues while considering multiple perspectives.
Nipissing’s Master of Environmental Science (MESc) program take an interdisciplinary approach to explore and address environmental issues by considering and integrating ideas and methodologies from the humanities, social sciences, indigenous studies and natural sciences.
- Participating faculty are from a wide range of departments (Biology and Chemistry, Computer Science and Mathematics, Geography, History, Indigenous Studies, Philosophy, Political Science and Economics, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology) supporting disciplinary expertise and interdisciplinary dialogue
- High faculty-to-student ratio.
- Flexible graduate programming means students can choose a 1-year (major paper) or 2-year (research thesis) option to earn a Master of Environmental Science degree.
- Graduate research opportunities allow students to work closely with faculty on state-of-the-art research and collaborate with community, government, and industry.

Nipissing University offers additional funding to students on the basis of a range of criteria – academic merit, financial need, or a combination of extracurricular involvement, academics, demonstrated leadership ability or volunteerism. Once you’re a Nipissing student, simply complete the Web Bursary application that is found on WebAdvisor in October to be considered for all awards and bursaries.
