Program Overview

Gain the specialized knowledge and training needed to deliver pharmacy services in community and hospital settings! This program is fully accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs, and learning outcomes meet the entry-to-practice competency requirements of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities.

Things you'll learn to do

  • Receive, identify, interpret and process prescription and non-prescription orders, herbal and complementary care medicine products
  • Select, measure, weigh, count, pour, reconstitute, package and label products for dispensing
  • Compound sterile and non-sterile products
  • Uphold ethical principles and legal requirements to practice

Work in pharmacy environments
All in-person lectures and labs will be held in Sheridan’s Centre for Health Communities, a state-of-the-art facility designed to simulate applied health settings. Apply your new skills in your assignments, case studies, discussions, presentations and more! You’ll also gain real-world experience through field placement in both hospital pharmacy (160 hours) and community pharmacy (200 hours) settings.

Develop core foundational skills
Build a strong foundation of knowledge in core subjects such as human anatomy and physiology, pharmacy math, pharmacy legislation and pharmacology. You’ll also learn how to communicate with patients and clients in a professional manner; collaborate with other healthcare professionals; and manage pharmacy inventory to ensure safe, effective and efficient product distribution.
