The St. Mary’s University Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology is unique in Alberta, being embedded in a liberal arts context with a strong focus on experiential learning. You will acquire deep biological knowledge and develop transferable skills needed for tomorrow’s economy.

This program offers students opportunities not found at larger institutions. Its small class size and intimate environment increase a sense of community and allow you and your professors the chance to get to know each other. Through the many real-world, hands-on experiences, you’ll learn about the world and develop the skills needed to take on its challenges. Scholarships

Presidents Entrance Scholarships

The scholarship is automatically awarded to new students entering from high school who achieve an average of 80% or higher on averages calculated on the five best Grade 11 or Grade 12 admission subjects. The amounts will vary and will automatically be applied to tuition and fees: half the value in the Fall term and half the value in the Winter term:

  • Gold – 90% or higherexpand_less
  • Silver – 85% – 89.9%expand_less
  • Bronze – 80% – 84.9%expand_less

For President’s Entrance Scholarships, St. Mary’s University identifies eligible students through the admission process. No separate application is required. Recipients who continue to achieve academic excellence in subsequent years may qualify to receive other awards based on their academic performance.


Post-Secondary Transfer Scholarship

If you transfer to St. Mary’s University with a minimum of 30 transferable university-level credits, you may be eligible for the Post-Secondary Transfer Scholarship, a one-time award from $800 up to a maximum of $1,000. To become eligible for the Post-Secondary Transfer Scholarship, you must:

  • be working toward the completion of your first baccalaureate degree program
  • be enrolled in a degree program at St. Mary’s University
  • present a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on all transferred courses
  • be registered in a minimum of 80 % of a full course load (12 credit hours or four courses) in each semester. If your registration drops below the required 80 % minimum before the change of registration deadline will forfeit your scholarship.

For Post-Secondary Transfer Scholarships, St. Mary’s University identifies eligible students through the admission process. No separate application is required.
