Program Overview

Working for private and public sector organizations, occupational health and safety managers keep employees safe and ensure their work environment is a healthy one.

Managing the occupational health and safety function in the workplace requires an understanding of a broad range of areas, including legislation, workplace hazards, and occupational illnesses, evaluation and control techniques, and managing and promoting workplace safety and wellness. Occupational health and safety must be placed within the organization's context; understanding how organizations are structured and behave is an essential component of occupational health and safety, as is an understanding of business skills and the ability to apply strong analytical and communication skills.
