The Professional Master of Computer Science (PMCS) offers practical learning in the rapidly advancing area of computer technologies in need of skilled graduates.

This one-year master’s degree focuses on applied learning to independently design, implement, and maintain open-ended computing projects using the latest programming theories and software.

    • Minimum Level of Education Required: To be accepted into this program, applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) with a background in a computer sciences subject (eg, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering), with either a B Grade Point Average in your 300-level courses or experience working in the field.

    School Leaver Scholarships

    School-Leaver Scholarships are available for application annually. If you are planning to enrol in your first year of an undergraduate degree at UC next year, it's worth applying for a scholarship (or two!) to fund your studies.

    School-leavers scholarships are available specifically for:

    Postgraduate scholarships

    UC offers a number of scholarships to support students studying at a postgraduate level at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

    Are you thinking of Postgraduate* study in 2025? We have a number of Postgraduate Scholarships closing mainly between 15 October and 2 December for study in 2025.

    Begin your search using our Scholarships Database, using the filters such as 'Level of Study' and 'Faculty/School' depending on what you are planning on studying. Click through to the scholarship's Regulations to check that you meet the eligibliity criteria and you can also take note of the selection criteria for the scholarship.

     All scholarships need to go through a review process each year, so although they are listed, they may not show application dates until they are confirmed. Once a scholarship is confirmed as being offered, the scholarship will open for applications approximately eight weeks prior to their closing dates.
