Program Overview

Work with accomplished professors in a small and motivating environment as you build your knowledge of the principles and theories of human communication. You'll graduate prepared for several careers as well as competitive doctoral programs in Communication.

Why This Program & What You'll Learn
Develop the skills to evaluate and apply theory and research methods in our rigorous master's in communication program. You'll work with faculty on independent research, conference presentations and other scholarly projects.

Over 75% of our faculty have published a considerable work of scholarship within the last two years.

Our program allows you to develop research projects of your choosing. Students in the past have co-authored or co-researched projects on the #metoo movement, civility in political debates, social support during campus crises and more. Over half of our previous MA students have presented their research at an academic conference.

Additionally, you can gain teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant, teaching undergraduate communication courses. GTAs receive substantial teaching preparation and a tuition waiver and stipend. This is extremely valuable if you're planning to pursue a doctoral program afterward.

Approximately 25% of our students continue in a nationally-recognized doctoral program. The rest pursue careers in business, non-profit work, marketing, higher-ed administration and more.
