Program Overview

Utah Tech's Criminal Justice major is an interdisciplinary program that combines the study of criminal law, law enforcement, and criminology, providing a firm foundation for a myriad of careers. This course of study exposes students to the interconnected nature of the criminal justice system and explores criminological explanations for crime commission. Graduates from this program are prepared to enter applied positions in the criminal justice system or pursue graduate degrees in law, criminology, sociology, forensics psychology, etc. The criminology emphasis is comprised of 33 credits in addition to the established criminal justice core curriculum. This emphasis prepares students to analyze criminal behavior by using established criminological theory and appropriate research methods. Students apply a practical approach to criminological theory and methods by utilizing them to complete a capstone project.
