Weber State’s plastics and composites emphasis prepares you for a well-paying career with hands-on experience in all aspects of manufacturing plastics and composites.

Once you enter Weber State’s plastics and composites program, you’ll gain practical experience in labs covering many plastic disciplines, including:

  • Injection
  • Thermoforming
  • Blow molding
  • Extrusion dies
  • High/low-tech composite molds

You can also gain industry experience through internships with local organizations.

What You’ll LEARN at Weber

You’ll become an expert in four primary proficiency areas:

  • The design and manufacturing of products
  • The design of manufacturing systems
  • Materials and manufacturing processes
  • The management of production processes and resources

Program Learning Outcomes

  • An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, or technology related to materials, manufactoring processes, tooling, automation, production operations, maintenance, quality, industrial organization and management, and statistics. To solve broadly defined engineering problems. (Also addresses MFET Program Criteria).
  • An ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems.
  • Conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments and apply experimental results to improve processes in a realistic, sustainable, and cost-effective manner.
  • An ability to function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team.
  • An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical, nontechnical, and relevant financial environments; and an ability to identiify and use appropriate technical literature.

    • Unlike student loans, scholarships do not need to be repaid. Depending on the award, they may or may not be renewable.
