Mount Allison University Scholarships

Scholarships and awards for first-year students

Recognizing your academic achievements and personal accomplishments.
Mount Allison scholarships range from $4,000 up to $56,000

All students have the chance to earn a scholarship. Funds are available on an equitable basis across the entire student population. To be considered for scholarships and awards, submit your application for admission and scholarships by March 1.

About our scholarships

When you submit your application, you'll be considered for two types of scholarships:

  1. Entrance scholarships
  2. Major scholarships

1. Entrance scholarships

You will automatically be considered for entrance scholarships if you have an admission average of 80% or above.
Ranging from $4,000-$20,000 ($1,000-$5,000 a year), entrance scholarships are awarded to entering students who demonstrate:

  • extracurricular involvement
  • leadership experience
  • community service
  • work/internship experience
  • academic achievement

Eligibility
You must have a calculated admission average of 80% (or equivalent) to be eligible for an entrance scholarship.

How do I apply for an entrance scholarship?
To be considered for entrance scholarships, your application for admission and scholarships must be submitted by March 1. For applications received after March 1, entrance scholarships will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed consideration.

How will I find out if I got an entrance scholarship?
Once the review of your application for admission and scholarships is completed, you'll be notified of the decision by e-mail and by letter, including the anticipated value of your scholarship (to be verified in April).

How will I receive my entrance scholarship?
If you receive an entrance scholarship, the value of your scholarship will be credited directly to your Mount Allison financial account located in Self Service in two equal installments:

  • 50% in September
  • 50% in January

Values are disbursed based on your anticipated enrollment in 30 credits in the fall and winter terms.
Many of our entrance scholarships are funded by generous donors. You may be matched up with a donor so keep an eye on your Self Service account to see who's the donor of your scholarship. For more information, visit receiving your financial aid.

How do I renew my entrance scholarship after my first year?
Entrance scholarships are renewable by achieving a 3.7 GPA with a course load of 30 course credits between the fall and winter terms.

2. Major scholarships and awards

Major scholarships offer some of our highest-valued awards. To be considered for major scholarships, your application for admission and scholarships must be submitted by March 1.

Some major scholarships require an additional application or supplemental information. Refer to the scholarship application for a list of required supplemental documents/information for each scholarship.
To be awarded a scholarship, you are required to submit your most recent transcript. If applying for early admission with Grade 11 marks, a Grade 12 course list must be included.

For applications received after March 1, entrance scholarships will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed consideration.
