Program Overview

Gain real-world technical skills in budgeting and cost planning for construction projects in this hands-on learning programme at our Auckland International Campus on Queen St. This project-based programme is run in four blocks of study over two years. Each block lasts nine weeks. You need to dedicate about 35 hours per week to the programme.


What will you learn?

Cost Estimation: You will learn to analyse and present feasibility information and preliminary estimates to clients. You will be able to assemble quantity surveying documentation relevant to specialist and specific trade sections and measure a schedule of quantities for a small building of an individual trade section including services. 


Regulatory Environment: You will develop an understanding of the roles, standard documentation and administrative requirements of the construction industry. You will learn to operate within the statutory and regulatory environment as it applies to the construction and design of buildings.


Project Management: You will learn how to manage construction and resource allocation, programming and construction activities, for medium and large buildings. You will know how to evaluate and select materials and finishes for building projects, taking into account environmental aspects of the design and construction techniques to be used. You will be able to analyse, select and administer construction contracts including the preparation of a tender submission from trade sections and other financial components and value building works up to and including final account statements.


Construction Technologies: You will gain knowledge of structure and structural principles for building work including foundations, substructure, the envelope and the interior, and passive fire protection systems for medium and large buildings.

    Scholarships for International Students


    The scholarships available for international students who are commencing in 2025.

    • $5,000 off the Master of Applied Management
    • $3,000 off the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management
    • $12,000 off the Bachelor of Applied Management ($4,000 per year)
    • $13,500 off the Bachelor of Information Technology ($4,500 per year)
    • $13,500 off the Bachelor of Construction ($4,500 per year)
    • $9,000 off the New Zealand Diploma in Construction ($4,500 per year)

    Terms and Conditions

    • The Launch Scholarships are only for the February, April, July, and October 2025 intakes.
    • Scholarships will be granted once an unconditional offer of place has been issued.
    • Scholarships are for enrolled students. Enrolment means fees paid, visa approved, arrival in New Zealand and studying the programme for more than three weeks.
    • The student must not apply for a refund and students receiving scholarships must not
    • apply for RPL/cross credits.
    • Scholarships are subject to class capacity and programme availability.
    • The Master of Applied Management full scholarship of $5,000 will be applied only if full fees are paid. If the student is paying first year fees only, then a $3,000 scholarship will be granted initially and the remaining $2,000 when the student pays the remaining fees.
    • Scholarships are subject to change. Future Skills reserves the right to alter or remove scholarships.
