Program Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma in Design is an opportunity for you to upskill in creative practice, modern photographic skills, technology and theory.

Studying photography at Massey, you’ll be taught by phenomenal photographers and designers, and learn alongside other aspiring photographers in a challenging yet supportive environment.

Use state of the art digital suites and printers with technical support, and explore alternative and historical wet-based photographic processes.

This qualification will give you an introduction to postgraduate research processes and contemporary design theory. You’ll push the boundaries of your design practice with a research-led independent project. You’ll also have elective courses and courses focused on creative entrepreneurship, exhibition or writing in the creative arts.

    Scholarships

    Massey Business School Promising Student Assistance Bursary

    These bursaries were established in 2016 and are funded by the Massey Business School Development Fund. At least five bursaries will go to a student in each of the five schools, and one bursary each will be given to M?ori, Pasifika and international students.

    • Who we're looking for - We're looking for students who are facing financial hardship or other circumstances that may hinder them from progressing in their studies.
    • Eligibility criteria - You must be studying within the Massey Business School.


    Application checklist

    Include the following with your application:

    • a personal statement, of no more than 400 words, outlining your circumstances and future academic and career plans
    • a letter of support from a referee, either academic or character, speaking to the merits of your circumstances an academic transcript for any study completed outside of Massey University

    Colin Aiken Plant Breeding Bursary

    This bursary was established in 2015 to promote plant breeding as a career. It was set up in association with South Pacific Seed Sales (NZ) Ltd with funds provided by royalties from sales of the Super Kumi hybrid variety of kumi kumi in acknowledgement of Colin Aiken who produced the variety. Mr Aiken died in 2017.

    • What you'll be studying - This is an undergraduate or postgraduate scholarship. Preference may be given to New Zealand citizens, though students of other nationalities will be considered
    • Eligibility criteria - You must be studying full-time in a subject area related to plant breeding.
