The BE(Hons) is a four-year professional degree. The degree is accredited by Engineering New Zealand, allowing our graduates to work as professionally qualified engineers all over the world.


Chemical and Process Engineering

Chemical and Process Engineering is about turning raw materials into marketable products in order to tackle issues facing the world today — from supplying clean drinking water and creating a sustainable food supply, through to improving society’s health and wellbeing, and producing pharmaceuticals.


What will my study involve?

  • Learn physical, chemical, and biological processes in the lab, plus how to use them on a commercial scale.
  • Hands-on learning through simulation software, lab experiments, workshop training, and industrial visits.

    University of Canterbury India High Achievers Scholarship


    Award Amount: $5,000 - $10,000 towards fees


    Brief Description:

    This scholarship recognises and supports international students with strong academic abilities from India who are beginning their educational journey in New Zealand at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.


    Value/Benefits:

    • Undergraduate: Contribution to tuition fees of $5,000 paid in the first year of study. 
    • Postgraduate: Contribution to tuition fees of $10,000 paid in the first year of study.1
    • Level of Study: Undergraduate, Postgraduate
    • Closing Date: 15 November 2024 (Semester 1 2025 start) and 30 April 2025 (Semester 2 2025 start)
    • Tenure: One year
    • Number available annually: Varies
    • Applicable enrolment during tenure: Full-time study in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at the University.


    Citizenship/residency requirements: Applicants must be:

    UC Business School Awards

    Confirmed for 2026 and still being processed for S2 2025:

    • $6,000 for master’s programmes
    • $4,000 for the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce (up to $12,000 overall)
