Program Overview

The Diploma of Commerce is designed to prepare you for the challenges of the global business environment. Commerce students study foundation areas of accounting, economics, business law, management, marketing and technology. Through specialised study in your chosen major at Curtin University, you will gain the theoretical and practical skills you need to be confident and industry-ready when you graduate.

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on decision-making processes and other major aspects of management in the highly competitive business arena. After completing the Diploma of Commerce, you can choose from a range of single or double majors from the Bachelor of Commerce.

Leading to: Bachelor of Commerce

The Bachelor of Commerce is a flexible degree designed to help you reach your potential and gain in-depth knowledge and skills of one or more areas of business. With a variety of ways to customise your degree, you will tailor your studies based on your interests and graduate ready to thrive in the business world.

You can choose to study one area of specialisation (a single major) or two (a major combination). Either way, your degree will take the same amount of time to complete and you will graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree awarded by Curtin University.

Major: Finance

This major gives you a broad understanding of corporate and investment finance. You will learn about investment evaluation, how to fund activities, the roles played by financial markets and instruments, structure and operations of financial markets, and financial securities that trade in financial markets.
