The multimedia journalism concentration emphasizes foundational journalistic skills such as writing, researching and interviewing for the dissemination of information across a spectrum of media platforms that require conceptualizing, producing and packaging stories. The knowledge and skills you will gain in this program are in high demand by a growing number of businesses, news and social media companies, nonprofit organizations and public agencies.

What You’ll Learn

Coursework in this program offers you extensive opportunities to gain valuable experience in the traditional media form of print, radio and video, as well as in social media, web content production and other emerging forms of new media. The innovative multimedia journalism concentration at UW-Superior is designed to reflect the changing mass communication field. It trains you as a digital storyteller who can work across a wide range of platforms using a variety of tools and technologies.

In this program, you will:

  • Benefit from experimental learning opportunities by writing and editing for the Promethean student newspaper, producing content for our on-campus Wisconsin Public Radio affiliate 91.3 KUWS, or broadcasting Yellowjacket athletics games and events.
  • Gain valuable experience using the department’s media editing lab, professional-grade video and audio production equipment and the KUWS Superior recording studio

    Aplying for scholarships is a great way to earn free dollars to fund your education. Along with many scholarship opportunities in and outside of our community, the UW-Superior Alumni and Friends Foundation offers 12 full-tuition scholarships to new, incoming freshmen each year. That means a little time invested upfront could leave you graduating debt-free. Trust us, it’s worth it!

    Students can also apply to the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), which provides students with stipends of either $1,750 or $3,500, to support them while conducting research.
