We also have a range of sports and other activities for you, to ensure you get the very best out of your university experience.

Support for you
As part of our dedicated support service for international students, we'll welcome you at the airport and we will organise welcome inductions, arrange informative sessions to engage with you throughout the academic year.

We understand that you will have many questions and may require guidance each step of the way and our International Student Advice service can provide expert advice and support to international students.

We can help you with a number of immigration issues including how to obtain a visa for study, whether you apply from overseas or in the UK, rules on working and travelling during and after your studies, visa corrections and immigration for family members.

We'll also send you the latest news and updates in a regular newsletter to your BSU student email, so please make sure you check your email regularly.

The Students' Union
The Students’ Union’s (SU) role is to help you make the most of your University experience.
The SU promotes your interests and welfare during your course. It provides social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussion and debate for your personal development .

International Student Advice
The International Student Advice team provides high quality, impartial and free immigration advice to current students, applicants and recent graduates. We operate within the wider International Advice and Compliance Service.

The provision of immigration advice is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commission (OISC). The OISC sets out the principles within their Code of Standards and anyone providing immigration advice must adhere to this code. Higher Education institutions are authorised under a Ministerial Order (Part V of the Immigration and Asylum Act, 1999) to provide immigration advice and services and should adhere to the OISC Code of Standards.

Staff working in the International Student Advice team are members of the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) and Association of International Student Advisers (AISA) and we operate in accordance with their Code of Ethics.

You can contact us via email, drop-in sessions, one-to-one appointments or through our scheduled workshops. All our staff follow the Code of Standards as set out by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC).
