City St Georges, University of London Overview

Day in, day out, year in and year out, City St George's transforms the lives of around 20,000 students, creates new knowledge, supports business and the professions, and contributes to the global good of society.

Dynamic location, global outlook, responsible future

Based in the heart of London, close to the Square Mile and Tech City and in the design hub of Clerkenwell, we are proud of our heritage and links with business:

  • The Lord Mayor of London is our Rector and this connection is often celebrated in our events and ceremonies. Staff and students take part in the annual Lord Mayor’s Show which serves as the inauguration of the new Lord Mayor.
  • City of London livery companies are among our founders and long-standing supporters, such as the Saddlers, whose donations part-funded our sports centre.
  • Professional bodies and organisations help develop our courses and facilities, offering excellent opportunities for work experience, enhancing the career prospects of our graduates.

Our outlook is global: around half our students come from outside the UK and our research has worldwide impact, while our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility runs through everything we do.

City, University of London and St George’s, University of London merged on 1 August 2024. We are now ‘City St George’s, University of London’.

Why have we merged?

The voluntary merger has enabled us to become one of the largest higher education destinations for London students, and a powerful multi-faculty institution with a distinctive focus on professional education and research at the frontier of practice.
