Merit scholarships for international students

International students are automatically considered for renewable merit scholarships of up to $20,000 per year. These awards are available to admitted first-year students enrolling in the fall term (September start) who have not attended another college after high school graduation. Merit scholarships from UO can be combined with need-based awards.

Apex $10,000, renewable each year* Apply for admission by January 15. Submit all required documents by February 15. No  separate scholarship application required. Minimum 3.70 high school GPA on a 4.00 scale
International Baccalaureate (IB) $2,000–$6,000, renewable each year* Follow deadlines above, then submit a copy of your IB Diploma by September 1.
  • Minimum 3.40 high school GPA on a 4.00 scale
  • IB diploma with an IB test score of 24 or higher

* Awards renew for up to four or five years (depending on degree program length) provided you maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and enroll full-time (12 credits per term).

Scholarships for international students with financial need

After applying to the University of Oregon, eligible students can submit a separate application for a variety of need-based awards.

On-campus work opportunities

Work-study awards are given to eligible international students each year by UO. This award provides a monthly paycheck for on-campus work (up to 20 hours per week). The award does not guarantee a job, but opportunities for on-campus employment are greatly increased. However, international students can also apply for paid work on campus without a work-study award.
