As a private residential liberal arts university, Austin College is the oldest institution of higher education in Texas operating under its original charter.

Austin College is proud to be a cornerstone of the Sherman, Denison, and larger Grayson County community.

With over 175 years in Texas (the oldest college still operating under original name and charter!), and almost 150 years in Sherman, the College and the surrounding area have grown up side by side. Just like an old friend, Austin College has always been ready to open its doors warmly to the local community. Whether you’re visiting, attending a lecture, making use of our facilities, or getting involved in campus life, we welcome you to come and be a part of our vibrant community.
