IELTS Exam Fee in India for 2024
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an English language examination for professionals and students who plan to pursue their higher education or employment overseas. A good IELTS score increases your chances of being admitted to universities in English-speaking nations. Candidates who want to take the IELTS exam are required to pay an IELTS exam fee while registering for it and before appearing for the IELTS exam. Listed below are the IELTS exam fees associated with each IELTS exam type.

IELTS Exam Fee
The exam fee for the IELTS General test is around ?16,250, and you can pay this fee online through debit/credit cards, e-wallets, or net banking. After paying the fee, you can easily download or collect your IELTS exam's customized deposit slip from the IELTS IDP India's website or your local IELTS IDP branch office. You can also pay your IELTS exam fee via demand draft to "IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED" in Delhi by visiting your nearest ICICI/HDFC Bank.
IELTS Exam Fee for General Test
The IELTS exam fee for the (IELTS General) test is around ?16,250. Candidates must visit the official website of IDP before paying the fee. On its registration page, Candidates can create their profiles and choose their preferred IELTS test Centre and exam date. Once done with the registration process, they can pay a fee of ? 16,250 for it online via credit card, debit card, net banking, or e-wallet.
IELTS Exam Fee for Academic Test
The exam fee for the IELTS Academic test is the same as the IELTS General, which costs around ?16,250.
IELTS Exam Fee for Life Skills (A1 & B1)
The exam fee for A1 & B1 levels of the IELTS Exam of Life Skills is ?15,350 each.
IELTS Retake Fee
Any applicant who wants to retake the IELTS exam due to a lower band score or any other reason must pay the entire IELTS exam fee again for the same. There is no real difference between registering for an IELTS exam and retaking it.
IELTS Rescheduling Fee
If a candidate wants to reschedule their IELTS exam, then they have to pay an IELTS rescheduling fee of 3300 INR for it. This rescheduling pushes the IELTS exam date by five weeks from the original test date. If you want to postpone or cancel your IELTS then you will need to pay a fee for it as well.
IELTS Special Handling Requests
IELTS ensures a comfortable environment for all exam applicants, therefore, If an applicant has any of the issues like hearing, visual difficulties, or medical conditions, then they can inform their exam centre six weeks before their IELTS exam date for their special arrangement requirements.
Special arrangements include the following:
- Extra time for medical conditions or infant feeding
- Braille papers
- Special Listening CD with the required pauses and stops
- The Listening Test with Lip Reading
- Speaking task cards in Braille or enlarged print.
IELTS Booking confirmation
A final confirmation email having all the pertinent information like your IELTS test date, time, and location is delivered to the candidate's registered email ID five to seven days before their IELTS exam. Candidates can check their spam/junk folder frequently if they don't seem to receive any emails from IDP while while ensuring that their email account settings permit them for the same.
Computer-Based IELTS
The Computer-based IELTS test, as the name implies, uses a computer to administer the test rather than the traditional pen-and-paper format. The questions, patterns, and organization are all the same as in the paper-and-pencil edition, and even the IELTS exam booking process is the same. The advantage of Computer-based IELTS is that its result is released in 5 to 7 days. Students can select a comfortable time for the Computer-based IELTS tests, and more test dates are available for the same.
TRFs
Within one month of taking the IELTS exam, a candidate may ask for up to five extra TRFs to be delivered to the receiving organizations (universities, professional bodies, etc.). TRFs will be sent via DHL, and students will be charged accordingly. The IDP IELTS office can set up the electronic submission of scores for free if the receiving institution accepts that format.
Date and Frequency
IELTS test dates are offered upto 4 times in a month making a total of 48 fixed dates in one calendar year. The availability of IELTS dates in India may vary for Academic and General IELTS.
Center and Admit Card
The IELTS Exam is offered at more than 50 locations across India. No admit card is provided for the IELTS examination.
Result
IELTS Exam results are released 10 calendar days after the paper-based exam and 5-7 calendar days for the computer based test. The candidate will receive only ONE original Test Report form (TRF).
Score Reporting
A candidate may request to have upto 5 additional TRFs sent to the receiving institutions (universities, professional bodies, etc) within 1 month of taking the IELTS test. TRFs sent by courier will be sent via DHL and students will be charged accordingly. If the receiving institution accepts electronic submission of scores then that can be arranged through the IDP IELTS office free of charge.
